Old Business: A: Discussion regarding the Band Boosters providing financial assistance for the Wind Ensemble Tour. The total cost of the trip is $315 per student. Sue Pethoud proposed that the Boosters contribute $75 per student plus an additional amount based on the required volunteer work of the parents. Sue’s suggestion was that the amount would be based on the number of years that a parent helped: 3 years-=$60 / 2 yrs=$40 / 1 yr=$20 / no volunteer help=no further contribution. A discussion followed about parent involvement if Tour only occurred once every three years. It was noted that Wind Ensemble may still go on Tour the other years. A motion to fund Tour as proposed was made by Keith Moilanen, supported by Linda Popovic. None opposed. Motion approved.
New Business: A: The best students from state solo/ensemble are invited to play at Michigan Youth Arts Festival. MYAF is considered the state’s honors band. Three students from Brighton will be participating this year: John Tousignant, Bradley Grasl, and Christian Green. The cost to these students is $225. Last year, the Boosters supported the students with $75 each. A motion to support the three students at $100 each this year was made by Linda Yaple, supported by Terri Stover. None opposed. Motion approved.
Motion to adjourn by Linda Yaple, supported by Sue Pethoud. All in favor. Adjourned at 8:22 pm. Respectfully submitted,
Barbara Keeney, Secretary |
